Steam Summer Next Fest Part 2
I know I know, Next Fest ends mid day tomorrow. But I still played more demos that I want to talk about.
- Aeromachina - This is a 3D platformer style metroidvania. Everything about this game in the demo just feels great. I can already see the movement tech for speedruns popping up with how crisp the movement is. The way combat is handled fits great with how the movement and platforming works. This is up there as one of my favorite demos of this Next Fest.
- Easy Delivery Co. - This is a cozy delivery game with aesthetics of a PSX/PS2 game with a dash of Animal Crossing. I went into this demo blind and half expected this to turn towards horror and/or surreal. I was pleasantly surprised to find neither. I knew right away that I could lose hours to this game after I turned on the second radio station. The music fits so well and amplifies the gameplay turning into an incredible cozy game.
- Possessor(s) - The next up and coming metroidvania about a girl getting, you guessed it, possessed by a demon. This demo was really cool. I love the character designs and the art style in general. I'm not one hundred percent sold on the level design just yet, but it might just how the intro area flows. The combat is really fun and looks to have a great mix and match feel to suit multiple play styles.
- Uppercute - A beat 'em up platformer that has running through levels. I really enjoyed this one and could see myself gunning for S ranks on everything. The controls were a little clunky as I kept hitting the wrong buttons to do what I wanted.
Honorable Mentions: - Gas Station Story
- Sinker Sound
