June Has Begun
My mom, sister, and I went to go see the Takashi Murakami exhibit at the art museum. It was really cool. The scale of some of the paintings was absurd and I couldn't believe the detail on some of the sculptures. I really vibe with his overall art style and it made me want to try drawing again. My favorite piece that I saw of his was a painting titled "Warp".
Not gonna touch on any of the Summer Game Fest stuff just yet, but will have something about it probably on Tuesday. Mostly just talking about what I'm excited for. Sidenote: Didn't get a switch 2, gonna wait a while before buying one. Not really worth it right now imo.
Recent Media of Note
- Dispatch - The demo dropped the other day so decided to give it a go. Honestly really liked what was shown in the demo. Its a narrative/management sim game about a team of bargain bin super heroes and villains looking for redemption. The pacing of line deliveries were kinda fast, almost felt like 1.5 speed or something. And I missed the first dialogue prompt because I thought it was all cutscene. But otherwise can't wait for it to be released.
- Metal Garden - Ending up buying this almost right after watching the eurothug video on it. Would definitely recommend playing this. Its short (can beat it in like 2-3 hours) but man the atmosphere and environment is so cool. Can’t wait to see what the dev comes up with next.
- Cult vs Gal – Short doom style fps game. Was a neat little indie game made in gamemaker. I don’t know if its worthy checking out, but hey its only a few dollars so its not going to break the bank if you do.
- Ghost Station by S.A. Barnes - So I finished the book. I don’t know. Most of the narrative was good. Every time the author tried to sprinkle in romance it felt forced and unnecessary. The ending (especially the epilogue) felt rushed. I really wished there was more to the ending or at least an indication of wanting to do something with the characters in another story. Heck I wish there was more characterization of some of characters not even present with the team. Like outside of Ophelia’s grandma and actual dad with have little insight on the rest of her family and why she hates them. Yet at the end of the day I still enjoyed reading it. Would I recommend this book to someone, probably not. Might be worth checking it out from a library at minimum.
